Information about the assignment

As a foster home, you will care for a child or young person in your home with support from social services and supervision by a foster care consultant. The children are aged 0-19 years. Your role is to be a safe, stable adult with the main task of supporting and integrating the child into your family and society. It is important that the family has stable finances and a separate room for the child/young person.

As a foster home, you will care for a child or young person in your home who is in need of extra support and care. The child/young person often comes from difficult circumstances. Personal suitability is of the highest value, and experience in similar assignments is advantageous but not a necessity.

We offer continuous supervision and support to the families and are always available around the clock, with a personal foster care consultant assigned to the family.

Foster parents/the parent will receive compensation for the assignment equivalent to an average part-time salary.

Investigation

To work as a foster home, you as a family will undergo an investigation by trained consultants. In-depth interviews, home visits, and extracts from criminal and suspicion registers, the social register of the Enforcement Authority, and the Swedish Transport Agency will be conducted.

After an approved investigation, a matching investigation is also carried out to see if the placed child/teenager matches with you as a family.

Our comprehensive investigation is done both for your sake and for the sake of the placed child/young person.

Our task is to do everything we can to ensure that a child/young person gets a good foster home where they can feel safe, develop, and grow as a person. Unfortunately, research has shown that many placed children and young people have suffered in their foster homes over the years; we naturally want to avoid this and ensure that the individuals we place have a good experience in their foster homes.

An investigation is also important for you as a family; by getting to know you during the investigation process, we have the opportunity to make a good match with a child/young person who fits with you. We want to give you as a foster home good conditions for the assignment.

More about our company

YogaKloster is a retreat farm in the countryside just outside Borås. We have broad community engagement, and part of our work beyond the retreat farm is to investigate and supervise adults who receive children and young people as foster homes. We call this part of our operations YK-foster homes.

YK-foster homes have been working for several years to supervise and support families in a foster home assignment. Our assignment involves seeking, investigating, and then supervising foster parents who receive children and young people in crisis.

The work in the foster homes is conducted as socio-pedagogical work in close collaboration between social services, the foster home, and YK-foster homes. The basic idea for the assignment with the placed child/young person is based on the individual developing in interaction with other people, environmental factors, and various professional roles. By YK-foster homes creating a secure base with a good foster home investigated in accordance with the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines, a path is offered for the young person towards an increased ability for an independent life.

YK-foster homes focus on providing sustainable, safe, stable foster homes that open their homes with great heart to children and young people in need.

YogaKloster AB has a permit from IVO (the Health and Social Care Inspectorate) to operate foster care services.
