Personal Assistance – 24-Hour Shifts, Cats & Creativity

I am currently looking for someone to work extra as a personal assistant for me (and perhaps for one of my friends). With me, you work in 24-hour shifts, which means you can accumulate a lot of time without having to commit to many days. This makes it perfect for those who are studying, freelancing, building their own business, or doing something else flexible.

Sometimes shorter shifts occur, for example when I need double assistance, so it is an advantage if you do not live too far away – but I have had assistants living in other cities as well, and that has worked just fine.

About Me

I am a creative, engaged, and active woman in my 40s living in Östermalm in Stockholm together with my two extremely social, and very determined, cats and perhaps a few too many plants. If you start working for me, you can expect a fair amount of cat hair on your clothes and soil under your nails.

I have a muscle disease that requires personal assistance for physical tasks in daily life, but I am always the one in charge of planning my days. This means that you as an assistant provide practical service for what I want to do, but not that you take care of me.

In my daily work, I focus on rights issues, both professionally and voluntarily. I am also an avid knowledge enthusiast and learning junkie, so I often have some course going alongside my job. (Okay, I admit it can sometimes be a bit too much.)

In my free time, I try to make time for things like concerts, theaters, museum visits, and dinners with friends. I also love just being at home; taking care of the house, organizing my life and belongings in various smart ways, or just relaxing with a computer game. I also travel sometimes, both for work and privately. It can range from shorter trips within Sweden to longer stays abroad, so it is good if you can consider coming along sometime.

About You

My requirements are that you:

• Can handle working 24-hour shifts.
• Identify as a woman or non-binary.
• Understand, speak, and write Swedish fluently.
• Are non-smoking and approximately 25 to 50 years old.
• Have a Class B driver's license and experience driving a car.
• Can work both weekdays and weekends, including major holidays occasionally.
• Have good physical health, as the job involves some lifting and moving.
• Are vaccinated against COVID.
• Tolerate cats and other airborne allergens.
• Are flexible with both tasks and working hours.
• Are service-minded and can adapt to different situations.
• Are attentive and have a sense for other people's privacy.
• Believe in human rights and the equal value of all people.

Most people who work for me have a background in various cultural and service professions. Some have worked with animals or nature, or are involved in some type of sport. Previous experience with personal assistance is thus not necessary, but you must not be afraid to be close to another person and dare to get hands-on. You are welcome to be skilled in things like nails, hair, sewing, crafts, hobbies, plants, cooking, cleaning, or similar. If you have worked shifts or nights before, it is likely an advantage. Your personal qualities are of great importance. After all, we are close to each other for 24 hours at a time.

The most important thing for me is that you have the right attitude and that we get along well in daily life. I am looking for someone who has a sense of when to take initiative and when to let things be, and who understands and respects my way of living. You do not need instructions all the time, but should check in before going full speed ahead. When we are out in social settings, it is important that you can blend in without taking over and with a sense that it is my life and context we are in. It is about attentiveness, humility, and a certain finesse. And you need to enjoy learning things and doing things in new ways, even if it differs a bit from how you would have done it yourself.

About the Employment

You will be employed by my own company, which I run together with a friend. I care about my employees and have low staff turnover, but also expect a high work ethic in return. Collective agreement and wellness benefits are naturally provided. Selection and interviews take place on an ongoing basis, meaning the position may be filled before the application deadline expires.
