The Jamtli Foundation, the Jämtland County Museum, can be described as three museums in one place. Here you will find the open-air museum with animals, cultural history houses and agriculture, the county museum's cultural history exhibitions and the National Museum Jamtli, which is run in collaboration with the National Museum in Stockholm.
Jamtli has nearly 90 employees and conducts a broad museum operation with collection management, art and cultural heritage educational programs, archaeological and building antiquarian work throughout Jämtland County, exhibitions and event days. There is also a shop, café, restaurant and a hostel. Especially during the summer, Jamtli is a well-visited tourist attraction in Östersund.

Museum Farmer/Property Caretaker
Jamtli is looking for a museum farmer/property caretaker with experience in small-scale farming and property maintenance. The museum farmer's main tasks are to manage and maintain the museum's agriculture and animal husbandry according to historical methods. The role includes participating in the museum's various events and activities aimed at bringing history to life and engaging the public in cultural heritage. You will be a supervisor for interns, seasonal employees and other temporary resources.
The role also includes maintenance of Jamtli's properties and park environment as well as work with arrangements, events and markets at the open-air museum.
Competence Requirements:
- Documented education in small-scale farming and animal husbandry. Knowledge and experience regarding milking of cows and goats is meritorious.
- Experience in handling machinery, such as tool carriers/tractors, lawn mowers, brush cutters/chain saws and other hand tools for the needs of the work. Meritorious are industry-specific education and certificates, for example qualifications for wheel loaders, work platforms, hot work, etc.
- Class B driver's license.
- Microsoft 365.
- Master the Swedish language fluently in speech and writing, and English "decently" in speech.

Since the museum conducts public operations, a natural part of your work tasks is to convey knowledge and information to the visitors.
The role is part of the Property Management and Agriculture department, whose role is primarily to safeguard Jamtli's interests regarding care and preservation of cultural history houses and farms and park environment, the historical agriculture with native breed animals, and to constitute a well-functioning service function for other departments.
Employment Type:
- Permanent. Jamtli applies a 6-month probationary period.
- Scope 50%. Weekend and evening work occurs.
